SAFETY TIPS FOR ONLINE SHOPPING

Rosi Ross - SAFETY TIPS FOR ONLINE SHOPPING.

Online shopping has been my field of E-commerce for the past 3 years, from developing new websites daily via Shopify to customer service there are a thousand topics of discussion I can bring to the table. Since the increase in online shopping and the development of massive supplying websites like Amazon or Aliexpress online shopping has become a market competition and a positive profitable place.

If you are an average user, you are probably already aware of the normal precautions and have taken them yourself. Ease of use and convenience when browsing for different products or searching for the best prices have improved greatly. However, at the same time, online threats and frauds have also increased exponentially. Thus, from time to time, all of us must review our behavior and think again if our habits are secure. So, here’s how to stay safe when shopping online:

Use your Personal Computer

You can’t trust a computer that does not belong to you not even the computer at your office. It might not have the appropriate protection and it could already be compromised by malware. So, always use your own device, install an anti-malware solution, and before you start doing something that involves money, scan your network to discover if it is safe. It might sound like “mom advice” but most of the silly issues of money scams online happen for silly reasons.

Keep your PC up to date

A lot of security issues start when hackers exploit vulnerabilities in the software installed on your computer. The more popular a software is, the easier for hackers. Programs like Adobe, Oracle, or Microsoft Office are a must to keep updated.

Use your own WiFi with a strong password

You must use a non-standard password for your network and router. Router vulnerabilities and weak passwords allow cyber-crooks to easily access your home network. It might sound like something that cannot happen or maybe something that cannot do too much harm, but depending on the kind of information you allocate on your computer any hacker can do anything with it. If a hacker gains access to your PC remotely,  they could be able to access all of the files on your computer, along with your internet history. The files you have could be accessed and manipulated and your internet passwords, financial information, and social media could all be at risk.

Avoid using public WiFi or consider using VPN

A public WiFi connection means that you are sharing the network with lots of strangers. Those strangers can easily watch and steal your username and password while you sip your coffee Americano! On the other hand, VPN service like SecureLine VPN routes all data you’re sending and receiving through a private, secure network, even though you are in a public one.

Choose your online store wisely

Focus on the best-known ones, where you can read other consumers’ opinions and reviews. I recommend marketplaces where you can see people’s pictures if there is no picture of the item other people have bought rather than trust. And, when it comes to wholesale websites I strongly recommend asking about the groups of e-commerce buyers on Facebook. Most of the time online shops make their own reviews, upload their own pictures, and ban all bad comments on social media. So be aware of it in the first place.

It might sound like a “mom’s advice” but most of the problems with money, shopping, or scam online happens for silly reasons.

Access secure shopping sites that protect your information

If you want to purchase from a website, make sure it has SSL (secure sockets layer) encryption installed. To know this, the site should start with https:// and you should notice the lock symbol, which is in the address bar at the top.

Refrain from giving personal information

Common sense is a good security measure. Why would you need to inform your birthday in the online store? Moreover, while you are browsing, take your time to check refund policies, privacy policies (what they do with your data), and product guarantees. Please, read the return policy ALWAYS, most of the return policies explain clearly the deal you are getting into. If you see a return policy standing to one procedure and go on social media and people claim the order doesn’t arrive on time or the item cannot be returned, trust the people and avoid shopping there.

Keep your references

Save/print your transaction records. It will be easier for any post-sale issue. While you have your printed documents, you can check your bank statement to make sure transactions match. And, if there were unauthorized charges.

Unique account and password

Having a separate password for every account helps to thwart cyber-criminals. At a minimum, separate your work and personal accounts and make sure that your critical accounts have the strongest password, mostly because is demonstrated that 70% of the people with online profiles uses the same password for all of them.

Prefer safe payment options (credit card or PayPal)

Do not send money directly to the seller or vendor. Credit cards have built-in protections and you can receive a refund in case of fraud. Paypal has become a common as same as Payoneer, you can always claim to get your money back in case of fraud or no shipped item. I can say that based on my experience, most of the shops that send you to put claims on PayPal won’t return your money 100%. So my advice is to buy directly with a debit/credit card. Otherwise, prefer to have cash on delivery.

THE NEW GEOGRAPHY OF EXPERIENTIAL LUXURY DINING IN DUBAI

In Dubai’s next luxury cycle, restaurants are not places you visit — they are environments that curate who you become within them. The most considered dining destinations in the city have been constructed around a single understanding: that the food is the anchor and the experience is the destination. From the structured intimacy of Bastion at Jumeirah Beach Hotel to the waterfront slow sociality of Nuska Beach, the hybrid nightlife intelligence of ATTIKO Dubai and SUSHISAMBA’s 51st-floor panoramic dining, to the character-led intimacy of Eugene Eugene and the transnational culinary identity of Gatopardo — each of these spaces proposes a different answer to the same fundamental question: what should a significant evening feel like?

DUBAI FASHION WEEK: WHY GLOBAL BRANDS NOW TREAT DFW AS A MARKET ACTIVATION ENGINE

Paris, Milan, London, and New York remain the symbolic centres of global fashion authority. But symbolic capital no longer guarantees commercial conversion, and brands operating under increasing pressure to demonstrate ROI on cultural participation are evaluating the global fashion calendar with a different set of criteria. Dubai Fashion Week answers this question differently from any other event on the global fashion calendar — because Dubai itself is structured differently: not as a market that luxury brands serve, but as a market-making infrastructure that luxury brands enter. This evergreen editorial analyses the structural evolution of Dubai Fashion Week from regional showcase to global commercial platform — the GCC luxury market dynamics, The Showroom’s B2B function, the hybrid luxury consumer profile, and why the most strategically intelligent luxury brands now treat Dubai Fashion Week participation not as cultural investment but as the most direct available path to GCC market activation.

Eid Mubarak 🌙✨ A moment of gratitude, beauty, and Eid Mubarak 🌙✨

A moment of gratitude, beauty, and the quiet joy of celebrating together.

This season invites us into reflection — a reminder of how fleeting and precious life’s moments truly are. As Eid, Easter, and the beginning of a New Astrological Year arrive together, we are gently welcomed into a new cycle of renewal and intention.

Honouring tradition, reflection, and the quiet magic of new beginnings. Wishing everyone health, wealth, light, love, and meaningful evolution.

We started the year at @taniasteahouse — a vision We started the year at @taniasteahouse — a vision I carried for years.

Partnering with this family business felt inevitable🌱

Branded. Designed. Curated. With a crew.
People connected through @nihaobabeskin ethos.

“The Society” by NHB is about rituals, brand-led experiences, and intentional wellness — not events.
I’m at peace closing a 2 years chapter and focusing fully on the brand, the products and people behind it.

More curated experiences. More conversations about “skin and beyond”. More products to sustain a vision of beauty that doesn’t label, define or limit.

Everything is shifting.
For the better. For the vision.
I’m excited to see it unfold.

Flow. Intention. Evolution. Presence.

A final look at our last Female Founders Breakfast A final look at our last Female Founders Breakfast—and a closing of a chapter.

This gathering brought together flowing yoga by @yogirays_ powered by @lululemonme and a conscious conversation on abundance and personal finances with @wealthbyherdesign, hosted at @sanbeach.dubai. The intention was clear: create a space where movement, dialogue, and perspective could exist✨

These conversations around financial literacy and long-term thinking are no longer optional—they are essential. In a world defined by volatility and noise, discernment, ownership, and clarity are the true markers of modern leadership🍭

As the co-founder, I’m intentionally stepping away from the format of the Female Founders Breakfast to evolve toward something more refined. Fewer seats. Deeper conversations. A more minimal, curated experience that reflects where we’re going—not where we’ve been.

Just an edit.

I heard we were talking 2016, so thank you✨ For t I heard we were talking 2016, so thank you✨

For the risks I took before I knew the outcome.
For the people who shaped me — even briefly.
For the places I went without overthinking.
For doing things without documenting everything.
For trusting myself before the noise.

If you’ve ever looked back with gratitude, not regret —
this is your sign to honor it.

Save this as a reminder.
Comment ✨ if you’re thankful for who you were.

Swipe → save → come back when you need them.

Last year taught me that growth doesn’t always look loud. Sometimes it looks like rest, boundaries, and choosing clarity over chaos.

These are the sentences I repeated when things felt heavy, unclear, or too fast.

I’m sharing them as a quiet good-luck charm for you too 🍀

Take what resonates. Leave the rest.

And step into the next chapter softer, wiser, and more intentional.

✨ Good luck — it’s already working in your favor.

Grateful to be working alongside @kahina_melchane on the strategic positioning and PR between Dubai and France for Padel One, supporting @dadju as he expands into the UAE not only as an artist, but as a businessman building long-term value🏹

Dubai has quietly become one of the safest and most balanced environments for public figures to thrive. Celebrities like @lindsaylohan @lilbieber @cristiano and many others choose this city not just for luxury, but for privacy, structure, and emotional well-being. Having lived in the USA, the contrast is clear—Dubai offers a healthier social ecosystem where success doesn’t require constant exposure or pressure.

@padelonedubai reflects this shift: intentional spaces, curated communities, and experiences rooted in performance and wellness but mostly privacy for all superstars living in DXB✨

Excited for what we’re building💥
